Self-confession against anti-Semitism: Joe Chialo in need of explanation – Culture

As is often the case when something goes terribly wrong, the initiative is based on the best of intentions. More decisive action against discrimination and anti-Semitism in art and culture, especially in Berlin, especially after October 7th – that doesn’t just sound like a good idea. It sounds compelling. But anyone who asks Berlin’s cultural workers about the new “anti-discrimination clause” from Berlin’s Senator for Culture Joe Chialo is met with worries, uncertainty and disturbance. There is talk of a “scandal,” and artists wrote one in protest open letter to the cultural administration.
