Under the heading “Mayor” on the Seeg municipality’s homepage, CSU man Markus Berktold smiles at the visitor, who is not only the first mayor, but also chairs the building committee, the main and finance committee as well as the tourism and honey village committee holds. However, Berktold cannot be reached in the town hall. He has been in prison for a year. Last week, the Nuremberg-Fürth regional court sentenced him to five and a half years in prison – for fraud and breach of trust.
