Security conference in Munich: Shop owners in the neighborhood complain about loss of sales – Munich

Many shops around the Bayerischer Hof are threatened with significant losses in sales due to the security conference at the weekend, as customers find it difficult or impossible to get into the security area. What was different at Siko in the past – and why the shop owners’ displeasure is particularly great this year.

Susanne Benter is furious at the Munich Security Conference. She has been running a women’s fashion store for twelve years, 150 square meters, in the best inner-city location, between Promenadeplatz and Salvatorkirche. But this actually great location has been its undoing with regularity every year in February – when next door in the Bayerischer Hof the powerful people of this world move in for a few days for a big palaver and cover everything and everyone in their vicinity with a veil of stagnation. The veil is called Security Area A and gives Benter and all the other shop owners on the block a long weekend. Sounds nice, but it’s not.
