The new solution from Eperi is integrated into Windows and is based on the company’s highly secure gateway. It encrypts all OneDrive backups and stores them in the cloud. This allows companies to use the Microsoft 365 cloud storage OneDrive and OneDrive for Business as a backup destination and at the same time meet all data security and compliance requirements.

Functions at a glance

Automated backups of all devices in the company ensure that a quick and uncomplicated restore is possible in the event of data loss. According to Eperi, the solution is particularly suitable for companies in which many employees work remotely or in the home office. Since the Eperi Gateway encrypts all content as a proxy in the data stream, plain text backup updates never get out of trusted environments. Since Microsoft also keeps the stored backups redundant, the “3-2-1 principle” of data backup is fulfilled. The encryption remains unobtrusive for users, and all search functions for the encrypted data are retained.

The Eperi solution and its licenses can be flexibly expanded and adapted to current needs. Once connected to the internet, changes are synchronized in real-time and automatically to keep the backup up-to-date. This process, including encryption, is location-independent. All changes are versioned, enabling tightly defined Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).

price and availability

Eperi is now offering the backup solution. One terabyte of OneDrive storage space is available to users in Microsoft 365 business licenses. Additional investments in hardware or memory are not necessary. License costs are only incurred for the Eperi gateway, but according to the provider they are significantly lower than the costs of a typical backup solution.
