EHC Munich also lost the second game in the semi-final series. The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven won 3-2 after extra time in the Bavarian capital.

The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven are still on course for the finals in the German Ice Hockey League. In the second playoff semi-final, the main round winner beat defending champion EHC Red Bull Munich 3-2 (1-0, 1-2, 0-0, 1-0) after extra time on Wednesday and is leading the best-of-seven series 2:0. Four successes are required to advance to the final. But the Penguins should be warned: Last year they also led 2-0 in the quarterfinals against Munich, but lost the series 2-4.

EHC Munich forces Bremerhaven into extra time

After a clear 0-3 defeat in the opening game in Bremerhaven, EHC Munich wanted to strike back in the semi-final series against the Fischtowns Pinguins. But the guests created better opportunities in the first third and made it 1-0 in the 14th minute through Markus Vikingstad. Munich were hardly able to create any big chances against the physically strong defense of the North Germans.

In the 28th minute, Miha Verlic increased the score to 2-0 – but the EHC fought back: The Munich team reduced the score to 1-2 in the 34th minute through Markus Eisenschmid. Three minutes later, Maximilian Daubner equalized.

After a goalless third third, the match then went into overtime, in which Munich initially pushed for the 3-2 with a long period of pressure and even held on to the lead for several minutes. However, the knockout goal came in the 74th minute when Bremerhaven was ultimately ripped off by Philipp Bruggisser.
