Sébastien Cauet indicted for rape and sexual assault and placed under judicial supervision

The host has been in police custody since Wednesday May 22 before the juvenile brigade.

Sébastien Cauet is indicted for rape and sexual assault as part of a judicial investigation opened this Friday, May 24 by the Paris prosecutor’s office, BFMTV learned from a source close to the case. He was placed under strict judicial control which prohibited him from being a radio presenter.

Sébastien Cauet must also pay a deposit of 100,000 euros. According to our information, his lawyers will appeal the indictment and the terms of his judicial review.

The radio host was presented to an investigating judge earlier in the morning with a view to his indictment for acts of rape of a minor, rape and sexual assault of a minor.

The prosecution had requested the indictment of Sébastien Cauet for a rape of a minor committed in November 2014 in Geneva, a rape of an adult committed in 2011 in Paris, a rape of a minor in 1994 in Paris as well as sexual assault on minors committed in 2012.

The radio host was taken into custody on Wednesday morning at the Minor Protection Brigade (BPM) in Paris. He was questioned as part of the preliminary investigation opened for acts of rape and sexual assault against him. According to our information, his partner Nathalie Dartois was also interviewed by investigators on Wednesday.

At least five complaints filed

The host is the target of at least five complaints filed by women, who denounce acts of rape and sexual assault. Since the start of the year, these complainants have been questioned successively by the juvenile brigade.

For his part, Sébastien Cauet has proclaimed his innocence from the start. He assures that “everything is false”, “everything is a tissue of lies”. He also filed complaints, notably for slanderous denunciation and attempted aggravated extortion. He was interviewed at the end of last year by the brigade for the suppression of personal delinquency, but as a complainant.
