Sébastien Boueilh, president of the Independent Commission on Incest and Sexual Violence Against Children resigns amid “controversies”

The new independent Commission on incest and sexual violence against children (Ciivise) lost its two heads in two days. The new president of the commission, Sébastien Boueilh, announced his resignation on Thursday February 8, the day after the withdrawal of his vice-president, Caroline Rey-Salmon.

“Since my appointment on December 11, 2023, I have been the target of slander and personal attacks, and the commission has been the subject of controversies which do not allow the serenity necessary to carry out its missions”explains Sébastien Boueilh in a press release.

“Concerned above all about the best interests of children, and particularly child victims of incest and sexual violence, wishing that the commission can continue its work in a favorable climate, I have made the decision to leave my position as president of the Ciivise”, he continues.

This decision comes the day after the announcement of the withdrawal of the vice-president of Ciivise, Caroline Rey-Salmon. The pediatrician and forensic doctor is the subject of a complaint for “sexual assault by a person abusing the authority conferred on them by their position”.
