When the investor Peter Thiel disgusts Sebastian Kurz, who has left the office of Austrian Chancellor as a “Globals Strategist” in his company, this is not a favor. It is an invitation to join a fraternity of visionaries, for whom democracy, freedom of the press and antitrust law are anachronistic nonsense that only slows down progress. Kurz will soon play a role in this. So far there has been a clear separation of powers. The boundaries between politics, finance and technology ran along rules of the old world. State regulation is currently still the greatest lever. The question is how much longer.
