The second season of “quoted. der medienpodcast” is coming to an end. And the review shows: One of the most important topics since last summer has been the media’s handling of the AfD and its growing success in the polls. A topic that continues to be highly relevant ahead of the European elections and the upcoming state elections in East Germany. In this episode we take a look back and collect the most important statements from our guests on this topic. Social psychologist Pia Lamberty explains why it is dangerous to dismiss the party’s success as a mere “protest election”. Communications expert Johannes Hillje assesses how far the AfD is in trying to build its own (dis)information ecosystem.
