Diablo 4 goes overboard with Update 1.2.0 and releases over 14,000 words of patch notes. That all changes in Season 2, hopefully for the better.

Irvine, USA – Diablo 4 starts its saving season 2, the season of blood. Blizzard has now presented update 1.2.0 in detail. The patch notes are more extensive and longer than many bachelor theses. But the changes have come and gone: Endgame, all classes, uniques, dungeons, balance, resistances… and even more are waiting from October 17, 2023.

Diablo 4 brings the biggest update ever in 6 days – 1.2.0 Patch Notes

Monster Update for Season 2: Diablo 4 Season 2 starts in a few days, on October 17, 2023. Blizzard knows that they now have to win back players and implement critical feedback. Season 1 stopped Diablo 4’s meteoric rise and crashed to the ground with 99% player loss on Twitch. But update 1.2.0 is supposed to change that, and a lot of changes are necessary.

Blizzard has outdone itself, the new patch notes are over 14,000 words long. Depending on the font size, the update would easily exceed 30 pages of text and has more characters than many homework assignments at a university. There are hardly any filler words hidden in the word maze for Update 1.2.0 – they are lists with hundreds of precise changes.

What changes in Diablo 4? What doesn’t change would probably be a better question. Season 2 turns the whole game inside out. Dungeons, every class, season pass, items, aspects… there’s a wall of patch notes with nerdy percentages for everything. Here is just a tiny excerpt with important details:

  • Classes: Necros (necromancers) receive the biggest changes, their summons sometimes become twice as strong and receive more life. Druids and Hunters change the least. Barbarians should get a fast whirlwind again like in the old Diablos. In general, many (passive) skills and items should now be multiplied together instead of just added – this should make unpopular builds stronger.
  • Dungeons: Monsters spawn closer to the entrance in Season 2, direct teleports into the dungeon (instead of in front of the entrance) are intended to reduce boring backtracking. In addition, dungeons should finally look more different.
  • Unique Items: There are 6 new uniques that can only be found on World Tier IV (Seasonal and Eternal Realm). A bunch of old uniques have also been strengthened; Blizzard wants you to be really happy when a unique item drops. Uniques should “determine the build”.
  • Looting, leveling and endgame: Resistances and elemental resistances have been made simpler and clearer – the maximum resistance in Season 2 is 70%. The endgame, the previously rather dull phase in higher difficulties, should finally be challenging but rewarding.
  • Endgame example anyone? Legion events give 75% more XP and start more often, every 25 minutes, world bosses come every 3.5 hours instead of every 6. Here we have summarized 5 more important changes to bosses and more from Season 2 in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4: Preload for Patch 1.2.0? There will probably be an early download for the Season 2 update. There was a preload at the start of Season 1. You could load the patch a full two days in advance. We expect similar times for Update 1.2.0 – but exact times are not yet known.

Diablo 4 needs to be saved: Why Blizzard is going to all the trouble and bombarding Diablo 4 with patch notes is easy to answer. Diablo 4 players are running away after the failed Season 1. It was also to blame that the first season was a kind of gap filler: The chapter is said to have been developed together with Diablo 4 and quickly cobbled together. Season 1 was actually mostly finished when it was released in June.

Season 2 can now respond more specifically to feedback for the first time and that gives hope: Diablo 4 Season 2 creates a lot of anticipation: “So much good stuff”.
