Sean Penn threatens to destroy his statuettes if Zelensky is not invited

As the Oscars approach, Sean Penn reacted to CNN this Saturday on the importance of allowing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to speak about the situation in his country.

“If I understood correctly, the decision was made not to do so. I am not saying that Zelensky would have liked to speak, he reacted to the antenna of the American continuous news channel. If the academy chose not to do it (…) then I think that decision will have been the most obscene moment in all of Hollywood history”. If so, the American star pleaded for all people with a role in the Oscars to boycott the ceremony. “For my part, on my return, I will destroy my statuettes in public,” he assured while hoping to be wrong.

The CORE Foundation, headed by Sean Penn, will pass on to the Krakow City Hall its practical know-how acquired during similar actions and will open an office there to help Ukrainian refugees. Aged 61, the actor with two Oscars – for Harvey Milk and Mystic River– is shooting a documentary for Vice Studios, according to NBC News.
