In four difficult missions in the central Mediterranean, the crew of “Humanity 1” saved hundreds of lives. The rescue ship is now on its way to Bari in rough seas.

At 11 p.m. on Monday evening, something like calm returned to the deck of “Humanity 1”. Most of the 103 people on board since last night are asleep. More than 30 minors and 15 women are among them, as well as several small children and a baby. Together with the crew of the smaller rescue ship “Louise Michel”, the crew of the “Humanity 1” rescued them from an overcrowded dinghy in the middle of the Mediterranean. Now they lie wrapped in blankets on the aft deck floor, resting—many safe for the first time in ages.
