Science program Quarks: The new moderators are doctors – media


The science magazine Quarks In the future, the WDR will be moderated by two doctors. As the broadcaster announced on Friday, the former hospital doctor Florence Randrianarisoa and Nemi El-Hassan, trained at the Berlin Charité, will present the program in alternation with the long-time presenter Ralph Caspers.

Popular science journalist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim who Quarks moderated since 2018, has been under contract with ZDF since April. Her successors have been working in journalism for several years. El-Hassan is for her work for that Wireless-Format Hunter-gatherer Awarded the European CIVIS Online Media Prize in 2018 and nominated for the Grimme Prize in 2020. Randrianarisoa studied media culture studies and media management before starting her medical career.

The first episode with the new cast will air on October 21. In it, Florence Randrianarisoa explores the question: “Dangerous waste – what should we do with our nuclear waste?” El-Hassan’s debut appearance will take place in early November. Quarks runs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on WDR, the program is also available in the ARD media library.
