Around two months after receipt of the application, the district court opened the insolvency proceedings. This clears the way for the transfer companies.

The district court in Schwerin officially started the insolvency proceedings for MV Werften almost two months after the application was received. The procedure was opened in the morning, the court said on Tuesday in Schwerin.

In total, applications were submitted for eight companies in the group in the state capital. This clears the way for the relevant transfer companies, which, according to earlier information, will take on 1,834 employees.

The citizens of Stralsund have already decided to buy the shipyard there. Insolvency administrator Christoph Morgen wants to report on the status of negotiations with potential investors at the Warnemünde shipyard this afternoon. While prospective buyers have to be found for the “Global Dream” cruise ship, which is 75 percent complete in Wismar, to complete the construction, the search for investors is also difficult in Warnemünde.

In the course of the week, a decision will also be made about the future of Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven, which also belongs to the MV Werften Group. This shipyard with 230 employees is liquid, Morgen said. The ship and yacht builder Al Seer Marine from the Arab Emirate of Abu Dhabi recently announced its interest in buying. If the sale goes through, the insolvency application for Lloyd-Werft Bremerhaven will be withdrawn.
