Scholz: Wrong course set for ammunition supply to the Bundeswehr (video)

Watch the video: Chancellor Scholz on the ammunition supply for the Bundeswehr.

STORY: NOTE: This post will be broadcast without narration. O-Ton Olaf Scholz (SPD), Federal Chancellor: “It is clear that together with our allies in NATO, in the European Union and far beyond, we support Ukraine in defending itself. And we will continue our support as long as it is is necessary. Politically, financially, humanitarianly and also with the delivery of the necessary weapons. Russia must not and will not win this war. It is also clear, and we are sticking to that, that NATO itself will not become a party to the war, because that would lead to an escalation with unforeseeable consequences for the entire planet. By the time of the next NATO summit, I hope that we will be able to formally welcome Finland and Sweden as new allies, as we all decided together in Madrid. It is also clear to Germany that ours will be ours Obligations in the alliance apply without “ifs and buts” for every ally, for every threat and every inch of the alliance’s territory. And dear Jens, the Bundeswehr r will continue to increase its efforts to protect Alliance territory. From 2025 it is planned to make 30,000 German soldiers available to NATO on a high operational readiness level. We have set the wrong course over the past few decades when it comes to supplying the Bundeswehr with ammunition. We are now realizing how important it is to be able to guarantee a constant supply of supplies there. Not only because of the war in Ukraine, but also because we look at our own figures. And the Secretary of Defense is now very committed to eliminating these grievances of the past decades. This is not an easy operation, because it is not just a matter of achieving something in the very short term, but also of ensuring that we have a sufficient, constant supply of ammunition for the weapon systems we use in the longer term. And I can assure you that she is doing everything to ensure that it succeeds. And it will succeed.”
