The Chancellor needed exactly two sentences to wrap up a debate that hardly anyone in the traffic light coalition wants to have at the moment. Asked about the role of nuclear weapons in view of the Russian attack on Ukraine, Olaf Scholz said at the NATO summit in Madrid: “NATO has had a strategy here for years that it is continuing to pursue. It is something that we are continuing to do as we do have been doing for decades.”
