The Deutschlandticket is within reach: according to Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the federal and state governments have settled their dispute over the introduction of nationwide, inexpensive tickets in local public transport. “The Germany ticket will come now, also very quickly,” said the SPD politician after consultations with the prime ministers of the federal states. “We have now cleared all hurdles.” Scholz did not give any details.
The federal states had previously demanded that the federal government contribute more to the costs. In the federal states, April 1 of next year was the last time the start date for the Germany ticket was discussed.
The Germany ticket for buses and trains in local transport with an introductory price of 49 euros per month is to start in the new year. It should build on the popular nine-euro ticket from the summer. Most recently there had been a dispute about the financing of the ticket, which was already planned in principle, by the federal and state governments. Lower Saxony’s Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) said: “Today we are so far that we can say: The financial foundations for this have been laid.” Now the expectation is that the relevant laws could be “put on track quickly”.
