Schnaittenbach: thieves steal 120 geese – Bavaria

According to the police, the animals were in a demarcated outdoor enclosure away from a poultry farm in Schnaittenbach when the perpetrators struck. The total damage amounts to more than 20,000 euros.

Shortly before St. Martin’s Day, thieves are said to have stolen 120 geese from a poultry farm in the Upper Palatinate. The animals had been stolen by one or more perpetrators in the past few days, the police said on Thursday. The geese were therefore in a demarcated outdoor enclosure away from the farm in Schnaittenbach (Amberg-Sulzbach district).

The total damage caused by the thieves amounts to more than 20,000 euros. According to legend, St. Martin is said to have hidden in a goose barn, but the cackling of the animals betrayed him. Around St. Martin’s Day on November 11th, roast goose is traditionally served in many places.
