The corona crisis still has a firm grip on Germany. Schlager star Matthias Reim is also affected by the measures. Now he’s talking about “idiots” on social media.

The corona virus has been circulating around the world for a good two years. In order to contain the pandemic, numerous events have since been canceled – cultural workers in particular are suffering from the measures. Like Schlager star Matthias Reim, who has canceled his upcoming concerts again. Appearances in Cottbus, Berlin, Neubrandenburg, Hamburg, Rostock and Freiberg are canceled.

In an interview with the “Augsburger Allgemeine”, the 64-year-old shows understanding for the measures, because he does not question the danger of the virus. However, the corona deniers are a thorn in the side of the singer. He finds comparisons to the developments in the Third Reich ridiculous.

“On the other hand, the corona epidemic is a laughing matter”

Reim also believes that the Germans were living in difficult times. However, he knows firsthand that there is a world of difference between vaccinating and wearing a mask and the Nazi era: “I too was allowed to have conversations with my grandmother, whom I kept asking how it was in 1943, 1944 or 1945,” reports the “Damn I love you” interpreter. Since then he has known: “Nothing can be compared to the misery of our parents and grandparents, but the corona epidemic is a laughing matter.”

In his opinion, the problem is also that the rules of communication in social media are being undermined. “You can abuse yourself and you can act out hatred without having to look the other person in the face,” said the singer. These troublemakers used to be isolated in school, “but today they can find enough other idiots on social networks to get involved,” Reim continues.

Seventh child on the way

In an interview, Matthias Reim also tells how his relationship with love has changed and that he is much more relaxed today with wife number six, Christin Stark. Therefore, he is also very happy about his seventh child, who is currently on the way – while his oldest daughter will soon celebrate her 50th birthday. Because Reim became a father for the first time as a teenager. “I’m doing it this time with a wonderful calm that amazes me myself,” says Reim. “For me the world is fine.”
