Millions of Germans still think with horror of last winter – the “most expensive heating season of all time”, as the comparison portal Check24 described the drastically rising costs for all fuels in the crisis year 2022. In the meantime, prices have fallen significantly, whether for gas, oil or wood pellets. For heating oil customers, however, the easing seems to be over, and market prices are already on the rise again. The comparatively cheap level of shopping in the summer months of June and July is history. “Anyone who needs supplies for their house should perhaps not necessarily wait until autumn,” recommends Oliver Klapschus, Managing Director of the online portal Heizöl24. There is also an extra savings opportunity: Anyone who had a huge bill when buying heating oil in 2022 can still apply for help from the state until October and, at best, get back up to 2000 euros.
