A corona infection can apparently leave traces in the brain that last for months. This is the conclusion of a study by British scientists who evaluated brain images of people who had been infected with Sars-CoV-2. The images revealed that the organ had shrunk slightly after infection. They also showed decreased gray matter in the regions of the orbitofrontal cortex and parahippocampal gyrus, which control emotions and memories, among other things. In addition, the brain scans documented damage in areas that control the sense of smell.
