“Ice Cold Angels” celebrate a quarter of a century

“Eiskalte Engel” from 1999 celebrates its 25th anniversary. Sarah Michelle Gellar remembers the film success with an Instagram post.
In 1999, the film “Eiskalte Engel” achieved her first major international cinema success: the film will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2024 and Sarah Michelle Gellar (46) will celebrate this anniversary with a post on Instagram. The actress published three photos that show her together with the other two main actors Reese Witherspoon (47) and Ryan Phillippe (49). “Happy 25th, Ice Cold Angels. Everyone still loves you and I plan to keep it that way,” she writes on the post. Selma Blair (51) also starred in the film drama.
“Ice Cold Angels” by director Roger Kumble (57) is based on the novel “Dangerous Liaisons” by Choderlos de Laclos (1741-1803). However, Kumble moved the action from 18th century France to contemporary New York. The film is about the two step-siblings Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe), who come from elite New York circles. The two make a bet about Sebastian seducing the new principal’s virgin daughter, Annette (Reese Witherspoon).
Amazon Prime is planning an “Ice Cold Angels” series
Gellar won two MTV Movie Awards for her role in Ice Cold Angels. At the end of 2023, Amazon Prime announced that a series adaptation of “Eiskalte Engel” was being planned. The series has a new cast and is about “two ruthless siblings who will do anything to stay at the top of the murderous social hierarchy,” according to the streaming service.
