The shanty rockers at the top: Santiano secured number one in the German album charts for the eighth time with the album “Doggerland”.

Santiano has secured the top spot in the Official German Charts, as determined by GfK Entertainment, with his new album “Doggerland”. With their musical declaration of love to the legendary Atlantis of the North Sea, the rockers from the far north of Germany have taken first place – well ahead of pop singer Bianca (75) with her “Best Of” in second place and Roger Waters (80) with “The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux” in third place. For Santiano it is already the eighth number one album of her musical career.

Rapper Drake (36) is in fifth place this week with his album “For All The Dogs”. The German composer Alex Christensen (56) with the Berlin Orchestra takes sixth place with “Classical 90s Dance – The Icons”, followed by the American blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa (46) with “Blues Deluxe Vol. 2” in seventh place. Closing out the top ten this week is the Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson (39) with “Goldberg Variations” in tenth place.

Change of leadership in the singles charts

There’s a change at the top of the singles charts this week. Ayliva’s (25) single “Ugly” secures first place and pushes SIRA, Bausa & badchieff into second place with “9 bis 9”. Third place goes to cassö, Raye & D-Block Europe with “Prada”, fourth place goes to the Canadian singer Tate McRae (20) with “Greedy” and fifth place goes to the British-South African artist Kenya Grace with “Strangers”.

Santiano is one of the most successful German bands. The group from Schleswig-Holstein describes their sound as shanty rock. In October 2022, the formation around founding members Hans-Timm “Timmsen” Hinrichsen (58), Axel Stosberg (56), Björn Both (58), Andreas Fahnert and Peter David “Pete” Sage celebrated their tenth anniversary.
