Ten years have passed since Cristina Yang left Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital. Could Sandra Oh imagine a comeback?

Even ten years after Sandra Oh’s (52) exit from “Grey’s Anatomy fans are still eagerly waiting for the actress to return in her role as Dr. Cristina Yang. The series is now in its 20th season on the US broadcaster ABC. Time for a comeback?

Sandra Oh on “Grey’s Anatomy” comeback

Sandra Oh, who appeared in the long-running hospital series from the first episode in 2015 until the end of the tenth season, now found clear words. Oh said she loves that people are still fans opposite “ET” at the premiere of her new HBO series “The Sympathizer.” “I hope people feel like I’ve done my job in bringing to life a character that has evolved over 10 seasons.”

However, the 52-year-old has ruled out a return to the series: “She was ready to move on,” she says of her role. “And so am I.”

While her character Dr. Cristina Yang left Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital in “Grey’s Anatomy” and moved to Switzerland to become a researcher at an institute for cardiac surgery in Zurich, Sandra Oh used the time to further expand her filmography. In 2017 she appeared in five episodes of the series “American Crime”, and from 2018 to 2022 she played the main character Eve in “Killing Eve”. From April 14th she can be seen in the series “The Sympathizer”.

Only two of the original actors are still there

From the original cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” only two characters can currently be seen in the series: Chandra Wilson (54) as Dr. Miranda Bailey and James Pickens Jr. (69) as Dr. Richard Webber. The former leading actress Ellen Pompeo (54) has only returned occasionally in her role as Dr. since the 20th season. Meredith Gray returns, but still does the voiceover for the series. A 21st season for “Grey’s Anatomy” was announced at the beginning of April.
