It’s a question of faith among smartphone owners: iPhone or Samsung? From January 31st, the battle of the mobile phone heavyweights is likely to enter the next round, when Samsung’s new flagship series – the Galaxy S24 Ultra – will be on the shelves. But who should use which smartphone? A comparison.
iPhone 15 Pro Max or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – for really die-hard fans of one brand or the other, the answer is crystal clear. However, anyone who is rather undecided will ask themselves: Which smartphone is better for me? We have compared the flagship phones from Apple and Samsung in the most important categories.
Most important innovation
Samsung spoke of a “new era” when it introduced the new S24 series last week. What was meant was the built-in Galaxy AI, Samsung’s artificial intelligence. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has some useful features on board thanks to AI, such as live translation of conversations or phone calls. Before the official market launch of the S24 next week, those interested can benefit from numerous pre-order promotions, for example from Vodafone. Anyone who submits their old device there when purchasing an S24 Ultra will receive at least a bonus of 500 euros as a credit on their invoice.

The most obvious innovation on the iPhone 15 Pro Max compared to its predecessors is the action button, which replaces the mute button on the side and can be programmed with various actions.
Samsung Galaxy 24 Ultra vs. iPhone 15 Pro Max: Performance
Certainly one of the most important points when you are looking for a new smartphone is performance – after all, everything should run smoothly and smoothly. Both the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the S24 Ultra play in the Champions League here. The built-in processors – the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the S24 – are absolutely state of the art and offer maximum performance for everyday tasks, but also demanding multitasking or mobile gaming.
Apple smartphone or Samsung Galaxy: The camera
Manufacturers also regularly try to outdo each other when it comes to cameras. In this category, the S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max also deliver a high-class duel on equal terms: but here with slight advantages for the Ultra, which has one more camera installed. The main camera also has a better resolution of 200 megapixels than the iPhone’s 45 megapixel main camera. The Apple device records videos in 4K, the Ultra in 8K. For the average smartphone photographer, the images from both cameras are more than satisfactory.
The S24 Ultra has a recommended retail price (RRP) of 1,449 euros at market launch; the iPhone is available a little cheaper just a few months after its release. At Amazon, for example, it is currently reduced.

Design of premium smartphones
At 6.7 inches, the display of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is slightly smaller than that of the S24 Ultra. The rounded edges also make it a little bit “softer” compared to the Samsung model. Both devices are made with a robust titanium frame and have flat displays with narrow edges. The color selection is somewhat larger at Samsung: The S24 Ultra is available in gray, yellow, black, violet, blue, orange and green. In the Apple cosmos you can choose from black, blue, white and “natural”.
S24 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max: Which one is right for me?
Whichever cell phone it ends up being, in both cases it is a very good smartphone that is one of the best on the market in terms of both hardware and software. Samsung’s artificial intelligence is still the biggest difference between the top smartphones. For many, an important point will be which operating system you feel most comfortable with: Samsung’s Android or Apple’s iOS. The price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is currently slightly cheaper, but there are some pre-order promotions for the S24 Ultra that buyers can benefit from.
