Florian Thauvin closer and closer to André-Pierre Gignac. Jorge Sampaoli, the coach of Olympique de Marseille, confirmed on Friday that a departure of Florian Thauvin to Mexican club Monterrey Tigers was a possibility and that the player was evaluating it.
“I spoke with Florian and he told me that there was a possibility and that he was evaluating it. But it is he who will talk about his future, ”said Sampaoli, questioned on the subject at a press conference.

“You know we care a lot about him, he is a pillar of this group. And he knows it too. But sometimes there are things that coaches cannot control. There are financial questions, there is the time spent here, perhaps the desire to know something else, ”he added.
Thauvin will be at the end of his contract with OM at the end of June and he can therefore join free in another club. He arrived at OM in 2013 and has not left the Provencal club since, apart from six months at Newcastle in 2015. According to several Mexican media, he would be very close to joining the Monterrey Tigers, the club where he plays since 2015 the former OM striker André-Pierre Gignac.
“If he leaves, I will retain the great professional with whom I really enjoyed working and we will regret it. But I won’t try to convince anyone. It is a personal decision and we should not convince or oblige anyone, even if I repeat it, I will be happy that it remains ”, declared Sampaoli again.
