FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has dismissed rumors that his company is exploring an acquisition of a troubled crypto mining company, clarification on Twitter that they “didn’t care about this area”
Bankman-Fried clarified on Twitter on July 2, “We’re not really sure why the rumors about FTX and the mining company are spreading. The truth is, we didn’t look into that area at all.”
Such rumors come frominterviewwith Bloomberg on July 1, after the FTX founder said he did not want to reduce the possibility of “An interesting opportunity” in the mining industry, stating: “There might be an interesting opportunity for us – I definitely don’t want to reduce that possibility.”
However, in the speech, the SBF clarified that the company “was not looking specifically at mining,” but “was happy to have conversations” with mining companies.
Bankman-Fried also stated during the interview that Crypto miners do not fit the company’s core strategy. “I don’t see any reason we need it.”
