The animal had made itself felt in the back seat of a parked car, bleating loudly. The owner of the car – and the lamb – said they received the animal as a gift while on vacation in Croatia.

With a well-travelled lamb, an animal-loving vacationer from Berlin has the authorities in Salzburg called onto the scene. As reported by the Austrian police, officials were informed the day before about the animal, which was bleating loudly in the back seat of a parked car.

The 49-year-old owner of the car had left the sheep with a box, a blanket and some hay with the window slightly open while he was attending a theater performance. To be on the safe side, the man had asked the waitress at a nearby bar to check on the lamb.

Got lamb in Croatia as a gift

The man later told the police that he was given the lamb, named “Chili”, while on vacation in Croatia, after the young animal had been rejected by the ewe.

After the stopover in Salzburg, he wants to raise it on his farm in Germany. During the transport from Croatia to Austria, the lamb sat between its children and was held by them.

However, a veterinarian and a veterinarian from the veterinary authorities found that the man had violated animal transport and quarantine regulations. The little lamb was given to an animal protection organization. According to the police, the 49-year-old is expected to pick up “Chili” after four weeks of quarantine and transport it professionally to Berlin.
