Salma Hayek and her daughter Valentina may be separated for more than 40 years. But the bond between the two couldn’t be closer.

Looking at the current cover of Mexican “Vogue” It’s hard to believe that actress Salma Hayek is already 55 years old – and daughter Valentina only 14. Together they adorn the front page of the fashion magazine, in which they give an insight into the close bond between the mother-daughter team.

The Mexican’s native language helps to strengthen this even further: “I speak to her in Spanish when I don’t want the people around to understand us. I also believe that it’s the unity, the family ties and the bond that we have , strengthens.”

Hayek explains that she became a mother for the first and only time when she was over 40 by saying that she only found “the partner of my life who had a stable career” very late – the billionaire French entrepreneur François-Henri Pinault (59). Nothing was more important to her than “having this daughter” – neither “my career or anything else”. It wasn’t until about three years after Valentina was born that Hayek “gradually started acting again and went traveling”.

Career plan in sight

With such a successful mother, the daughter’s career path seems already predetermined. “I want to be an actress and then a director,” asserts Valentina in “Vogue”.

So is there nothing but harmony between the two strong personalities? At least in one point, the two are like millions of other people, even if the dispute usually breaks out between sisters: “At home we fight about clothes because she takes everything from my closet. Then I can’t find anything,” complains the Hollywood star.
