A luxury resort murder story, albeit a lot darker than the current genre favourite White lotus. On the fictional Caribbean island of Saint X, a young college student vacations with her wealthy parents and little sister. Alison quickly catches the eye of the other guests, in the pool, on the beach, playing beach volleyball. The eyes, especially of men, follow her wherever she goes. When she heads out one night with two local boys who work at the resort, with lots of rum and marijuana, Alison never comes back. Her body is found a few days later. It was an accident, authorities say. The family believes it was murder. Almost twenty years later, Allison’s little sister Emily, now all grown up, gets into a New York taxi – and at the wheel is one of the men her dead sister went with at the time.
