Sahra Wagenknecht’s plans for a new party continue to take shape. She wants to present a predecessor club to the public as early as next week.

Left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht is pushing ahead with the founding of her own party: next Monday she wants to receive information from star and RTL present the founding of the association “BSW – For Reason and Justice eV” and the draft of a political program at the federal press conference. The “Spiegel” first reported about it.

According to circles, left-wing politicians Amira Mohammed Ali, Christian Leye and two other group members will also appear alongside Wagenknecht. You will remain in the Left faction until the party is founded.

The company announced the entry of the merger into the Mannheim association register at the end of September star reported about a week ago. It could be launched at the beginning of the year – in time for the European elections.

There has been speculation for months that the politician would run with her own party. “There is a political need for a new party. There is no question about that for me,” the former Left parliamentary group leader recently said – and otherwise kept a low profile. On star-Wagenknecht did not want to comment on the founding of the club.

The new party on the left edge of the spectrum could also lead to the breakup of the Left Party’s parliamentary group in the Bundestag if more MPs join the former party icon.

Wagenknecht joined the SED in 1989, whose successor party PDS later merged into the Left Party. In the recent past, the 54-year-old has repeatedly caused controversy within the party because of her positions, for example on migration policy. One of Wagenknecht’s stated goals is to steal voters away from the AfD.
