Because Sahra Wagenknecht publicly distanced herself from the positions of the left, she is now losing an office in North Rhine-Westphalia. The politician reacts calmly.

The Linken district association in Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia, has the rental agreement for the citizens’ office of the members of the Bundestag Sahra Wagenknecht resigned according to her own statements. The sublease agreement with the politician for the office in the district office will be terminated, the district association announced on Wednesday. This was decided unanimously with one abstention at the district party conference on June 24 in Belecke.

Wagenknecht must therefore remove the reference to the Soester Bürgerbüro from their online presence. The “Spiegel” had previously reported. Wagenknecht’s office told the magazine that the decision had been “taken note of” and that possible steps would now be discussed.

Dispute between Sahra Wagenknecht and the left

One felt compelled to take this step “since MdB Sahra Wagenknecht regularly distanced herself publicly from the positions and decisions of the Left Party,” the statement said. There has been a dispute over fundamental positions between Wagenknecht and the party leadership and other members for years, and the politician has also publicly expressed thoughts about founding her own party for a long time.

The Left leadership has repeatedly criticized this and urged Wagenknecht to make a decision. Wagenknecht had recently rejected a demand from the party leadership to give up their Bundestag mandate.
