Sadio Mané receives this shirt number at FC Bayern

Bayern newcomer Sadio Mané did not have a shirt number at his official presentation this week in Munich. In the past few days there has been much speculation as to which number the Senegalese will receive. Now the secret is out.

As Bayern announced late Sunday evening, the 30-year-old will wear shirt number 17 in the future. Mané has always worn the 10 at Liverpool FC and in the Senegalese national team. However, this number has already been assigned to Leroy Sane at FCB. Curious: Sane’s father recently emphasized that his son would be willing to give up the number if necessary. However, Mané has decided to choose a free number.

Mané inherits Boateng, van Bommel & Co

Mané commented on his choice as follows: “I chose number 17 from the available jersey numbers at FC Bayern and I want to celebrate a lot of success with my team and this number. Now I’m really looking forward to being able to start preparing for the season with my new team-mates.”

In the past, many FCB stars have already played with the number 17. Most recently, the two-time triple winner Jerome Boateng wore it. The former Bayern captain Mark van Bommel, Christian Ziege and Thorsten Fink all had the 17.

With the announcement of the jersey number, FCB fans can now also buy Mané’s jersey. President Herbert Hainer emphasized at the player presentation that he firmly believes that the Mané jersey will be a real hit with the German record champions.
