Sabine Buder from Brandenburg wants to run for CDU chairmanship

The failed Brandenburg Bundestag candidate Sabine Buder wants to run for the CDU chairmanship.

This was confirmed by the district chairwoman of the CDU Märkisch-Oderland, Kristy Augustin, the rbb. After that, a video link of the extended district executive is planned for Tuesday evening, in which a vote is to be taken on Buder’s proposal.

First, “Tagesspiegel” and “Märkische Oderzeitung” reported on Buder’s plans.

Augustin said the result could be very close. The application period for the CDU chairmanship expires on Wednesday. Should the district association agree, Buder would be the first and so far only woman to run for chairmanship.

Buder has so far been seen as a supporter of the candidate Friedrich Merz, who competes against the foreign politician Norbert Röttgen and the executive head of the Chancellery, Helge Braun. In the federal election in September she had one of the best results of the CDU direct candidates in Brandenburg. However, she was unable to secure a direct mandate.
