S-Bahn surfers in Starnberg – Munich

An approximately 18-year-old woman is said to have jumped onto an S-Bahn line S 6 at Starnberg Nord station, which continued towards Munich on Thursday afternoon. A passer-by on the platform noticed this, said the federal police, who were alerted at around 2:30 p.m. Despite an intensive search on the route between Starnberg Nord and Lochham, the reported train surfer could not be discovered. A helicopter had also flown over the area because it could not be ruled out that the young woman could have fallen onto the tracks while driving.

According to the federal police, it is unclear whether the illegal passenger on the S 6 got off at the Gauting, Stockdorf, Planegg or Gräfelfing stations. The officers had stopped the train in Lochham, whose driver did not notice the surfer who was traveling with it. During the approximately one and a half hour operation, the trains had to move slowly on the route. The federal police have now launched an investigation into the dangerous interference with rail traffic. Similar cases of so-called “S-Bahn surfers” had already been reported this year on the S 6 and S 8 routes to Herrsching. But no one has been caught yet, reports the federal police. During the dangerous actions, people would jump onto the coupling of the S-Bahn trains or between the carriages. The police warn against this “life-threatening nonsense” because even at lower speeds you could lose your grip on the trains and fall.
