RWE boss Krebber wants to generate more electricity from coal

RWE boss Markus Krebber demands that Germany urgently needs to generate more electricity from coal in order to save gas. He expects energy to remain expensive for years to come.

Markus Krebber is a sought-after man right now. The RWE boss orders liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Qatar or America in coordination with the federal government so that Germany becomes less dependent on gas supplies from Russia. Even the climate-damaging coal-fired power plants of Germany’s largest electricity producer are becoming important as a reserve in case gas should become scarce in winter. Krebber leads a group that is also criticized for its many greenhouse gas emissions and lignite open-cast mining. The 49-year-old welcomes him to the headquarters that RWE had built three years ago on an old colliery site in Essen.
