After several weeks of endless questioning and speculation on fan sites, Russell Crowe decided to lift the veil on his role in Thor: Love & Thunder, the next installment in the Thunder God franchise for Marvel, directed by Taika Waititi. In an interview for Australian radio station
Joy 94.9, the actor confided that he would finish shooting his scenes very soon. And he took the opportunity to give the name of his character.

“I’m going to get on my bike. I’m going to drive to Disney Fox Studios, and around 9:15 am, I’ll be Zeus. It’s for Thor. It’s my last day as Zeus and I’m going to enjoy it, ”he revealed.

Divine role

If we still do not know the precise role of the Greek god in this new film Thor, the comics can give an idea of the direction of the scenario. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character, described as overpowered (necessarily, since he is divine in nature), is one of Thor’s occasional enemies. Russell Crowe may only have a small role in the film, but Zeus’ appearance in the MCU could indicate a greater presence of the “Olympians”, those Marvel characters inspired by the Greek gods.

Chris Hemsworth will return as the Asgardian god, while Natalie Portman will take over the character of Jane Foster (who, if we are to believe rumors would in turn become … a female version of Thor!), Tessa Thompson the one of Valkyrie, with scheduled appearances from Chris Pratt and Karen Gillan, straight out of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The film is slated for release in May 2022.
