Actor Jackie Chan has revealed that fans can look forward to a fourth part of “Rush Hour”.
Good news for fans of the “Rush Hour” films: actor Jackie Chan (68) reveals that a fourth part of the series is being worked on. “We’re talking about part four right now,” he told the audience at the Red Sea Film Festival according to the industry portal “Deadline”. He will meet the film’s director later that evening to discuss the script, the 68-year-old added. However, he did not name the filmmaker.
Brett Ratner (53) directed all three of the previous films, but it has been eight years since his last film. In November 2017, seven actresses, including Olivia Munn (42, “Magic Mike”) and Natasha Henstridge (48, “Bounce – A Chance for Love”), accused Brett Ratner of sexual assault and harassment via the Los Angeles Times. As a result, the production company Warner Bros. separated from him. Ratner has always denied the allegations. It’s unclear if he’s a potential director for a new “Rush Hour” movie.
Is Chris Tucker back?
One reason for the great success of the previous parts was, among other things, Jackie Chan’s film partner Chris Tucker (51). As LAPD detective James Carter, Tucker engaged in numerous lively exchanges with Chan as Hong Kong Chief Inspector Lee. Together, the unlikely duo solved several international crimes. It is not yet known whether Tucker will be back.
In 2019, Chan and Tucker had fueled rumors about a fourth part together. At the time, Tucker had posted a photo on Instagram in which both were smiling and holding the number 4 into the camera. Many fans saw their hopes for a fourth part confirmed in this. Chan’s management however, vehemently rejected this at the time.
“Rush Hour” for Chan the breakthrough
The 1998 original made Chan, who has been in front of the camera since he was seven, also famous in English-speaking countries. He thought the film would flop at the box office. The action star revealed that he even planned to leave Hollywood for good at the time due to a lack of interesting roles.
Chan explained that after it hit theaters in 1998, he got a call from both Ratner and Tucker, who said, “Dude, we’re a smash hit. We made 70 million in the first weekend.” Parts two and three followed. Is it only the fourth prank?
In any case, the 68-year-old is far from tired of acting. Chan was last seen in action in 2020 in the action flick Vanguard: Elite Special Force. To this day, he still shoots many of his own stunts.
