A dog disappears in the Rhineland and reappears in Hamburg. Did she fend for herself?
A dog escaped near Cologne is said to have traveled hundreds of kilometers alone until it was finally caught in Hamburg.
The police were alerted on Monday morning by a resident in Hamburg-Hausbruch, who had found out about the missing dog via social media, said a police spokesman for the German Press Agency on Wednesday. The officials caught the dog, which appeared “well-fed and fit”, and handed it over to the Neu Wulmstorf animal rescue service. They took care of returning the dog to its owner.
The “image” had previously reported on the dog odyssey. According to their information, the dog Leya ran away from home in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid near Cologne on February 15. In between, she was sighted in Olpe and in mid-April in the Harz Mountains near Goslar.
