charge of interfering with the election
Mugshot and $150,000 bail: Rudy Giuliani turns himself in to Georgia authorities
Donald Trump’s former attorney, Rudy Giuliani, has appeared in the Fulton County Jail for criminal investigation following his charges of interference with the election in Georgia.
Rudy Giuliani speaks of “attack on the American people”
“These charges are a farce,” said the 79-year-old former prosecutor afterwards. “It’s not just an attack on me and President Trump. It’s an attack on the American people.” The prosecutor responsible, Fani Willis, will go down in history for having “launched one of the worst attacks on the American constitution of all time”. Authorities later released a mug shot of Giuliani.
Giuliani is one of 19 defendants in the trial of Trump’s attempts to overturn the outcome of the 2020 Georgia presidential election. The Trump attorney at the time had tried in a number of states to fight the election victory of Democrat Joe Biden with allegations of election fraud that had often been refuted.
Several of the accused have since turned themselves in. Attorney John Eastman, among others, appeared Tuesday at the Fulton County Jail, also known as the “Rice Street Jail” because of its address. Giuliani and former Trump attorneys Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis followed on Wednesday.
Ex-US President under pressure
Donald Trump has these legal problems on his hands
Trump will present himself to authorities in Atlanta on Thursday. Police photos of the 77-year-old Republican could also be taken, which would be a historic first. The ex-president and candidate for the 2024 presidential election wrote on his online platform Truth Social on Wednesday that he would be “arrested” on Thursday afternoon. That would be late Thursday evening or Friday night German time.
