A corona outbreak in a Thuringian nursing home cost 18 people their lives. Now it came out that many of the residents had not been vaccinated at all or only incompletely.

A total of 18 people died after a corona outbreak in a retirement home in Rudolstadt in Thuringia.

In 14 of them, there was no complete vaccination protection, as the District Office Saalfeld-Rudolstadt announced. Only one person received three vaccinations, three others were double vaccinated. In an initial report last week, the district office had reported that relatives of home residents had advised against the vaccination. At that time, seven dead had been counted. Of 141 home residents, around a third was not vaccinated, the message said.

District Office contradicts

Claims in social networks that the deaths were related to a booster vaccination contradicted the district office and referred to the proportion of unvaccinated among the deaths. There were also enough vaccination options for residents of care facilities. “The non-vaccination in these cases is a conscious decision of the residents or their relatives and carers and is not due to deadlines in the vaccination center,” it said.
