Rudi Garcia landed, Aurelio De Laurentiis chose Walter Mazzarri

Aurelio De Laurentiis has decided. While Rudi Garcia’s days were numbered since his defeat against Empoli at home this Sunday (0-1), the Neapolitan president dismissed the 59-year-old technician from his duties. The Frenchman will have only managed the Italian club 16 times (12 Serie A matches, 4 Champions League matches) and, beyond his checkered results, pays for the average performances of his team.

The Neapolitan boss has chosen to part ways, at the turn of the fall, with his summer choice supposed to perpetuate the Luciano Spalletti era. To replace him, the businessman appointed Walter Mazzarri until the end of the season. The 62-year-old coach already worked at the club between 2009 and 2013 and won an Italian Cup in 2012 with the Cavani-Lavezzi-Hamsik trio.

This short-term choice can also be explained because the arrival of Igor Tudor would be planned for the summer of 2024. The former OM coach (2022-2023) should then sign a 2-season contract with the Campania club and start again on a new cycle.
