As the host, Günther Jauch said goodbye to “people, images, emotions”. Who will succeed him at the RTL annual review?

Günther Jauch (65) has on Sunday evening (December 5th, also via RTL +) presented the traditional RTL annual review for the last time. 25 years he looked back on the respective year in the show “People, Pictures, Emotions” with prominent guests. In the last issue he thanked him for the “really, really nice time” and revealed: “It was always the show that I was most excited about. I was always jittery and nervous because I knew the show had to be something. ” So his successor has a big task ahead of him. But who is eligible for the post?

Oliver Pocher brings himself into play

Oliver Pocher (43) brought himself into play as the successor to Jauch’s last issue, even if it was probably more of a joke. When at the end a surprise was waiting for the moderator to leave, Pocher took over the show without further ado and, according to his own statement, “rehearsed” for the next year. The comedian is a well-known RTL face and with “5 gegen Jauch” has also gathered enough experience in moderation, but whether he can give the year in review a suitable coat of paint is rather questionable. In addition, since this year Pocher has had his own TV review on RTL. In 2021 he and Ilka Bessin (50) will invite you to “Billing of the Year” on December 22nd (8:15 pm, RTL) for the first time. The two give an award for each of the past twelve months.

Steffen Hallaschka has experience as Jauch’s successor

A logical successor to Jauch would be Steffen Hallaschka (49). He already took over the helm of his predecessor at the TV magazine “stern TV”. From 1990 until his departure in January 2011, Jauch moderated the magazine, and Hallaschka has continued his great legacy with success to this day. So the moderator knows what it means to replace a familiar face. “Eight or twelve weeks before my first broadcast, there were huge expectations when it became known that there would be a change,” said Hallaschka in an interview with RTL. It was only after six months that it became clear: “Now nobody is discussing the missing tie, now I’m slowly arriving in people’s living rooms and minds.”

Pinar Atalay has the necessary seriousness

The RTL news offensive launched in 2021 brings another name into play: Pinar Atalay (43), who once belonged to the regular moderation team of the ARD “Tagesthemen”, switched to the private broadcaster’s news team in the summer. The long-time “Tagesschau” head spokesman Jan Hofer (71) also dared to make the leap to RTL. The two would have grown in review of the year in terms of major issues that are certainly addressed in the review. In its last issue, Jauch addressed the corona pandemic, the flood of the century, the traffic light coalition and the takeover of power by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Who else could get a move?

When it comes to the moderation of big evening shows, RTL can also fall back on experienced names. “Let’s Dance” presenter Daniel Hartwich (43), “Chartshow” veteran Oliver Geissen (52), “RTL donation marathon” face Wolfram Kons (57) or the all-rounders Nazan Eckes (45) and Frauke Ludowig (57 ) To come to the train. Perhaps several moderators from different areas will join the all-purpose weapon Günther Jauch in order to do justice to the invited politicians, celebrities, musicians and private individuals with their moving stories.
