For six seasons, the series “The Crown” told the life of the British royal family. Props and costumes were auctioned off in London.

Props and costumes from the series “The Crown” were auctioned for around 1.67 million pounds (around 1.96 million euros). The Bonhams auction house in London announced the amount on Thursday evening. The series chronicled the life of the British royal family during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022).

The most money was offered for an old Jaguar – around 70,000 pounds including fees (around 82,000 euros) were due for the car. A gold-colored carriage – a replica of the “Gold State Coach” – brought in around 56,000 pounds (around 66,000 euros).

A total of around 450 objects were sold at the auction in London and online. Among them was a dress, the original of which Princess Diana had once worn at an appearance after her separation from Prince Charles – the current king. The custom-made dress was auctioned off for just under 13,000 pounds (around 15,000 euros).

Other elaborately designed costumes, pieces of furniture, specially made paintings and other items also went under the hammer. The proceeds will be used to support a scholarship program for filmmakers. The streaming service Netflix released the final episodes of “The Crown” in December.
