The Invictus Games for war-disabled soldiers will start this weekend in The Hague. For Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, these games are a matter of the heart.

During their visit to The Hague, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan exchanged views with Ukrainians who are taking part in the Invictus Games for their country.

“I spoke to Meghan about the importance of having a voice, being heard and being able to express your point of view. That’s very important to her,” Ukrainian Oksana Horbach told the British news agency PA after a conversation with the ex-actress on Friday evening.

Horbach usually works as part of the Ukrainian armed forces in Kyiv, providing meals to her comrades. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave the team special permission to take part in the Prince Harry-sponsored games for war-disabled soldiers, she said.

The Paralympic competition was due to start on Saturday in the presence of the couple, after two delays due to the pandemic. The Invictus Games are considered an affair of the heart for Harry, which is still very important to him after his retirement from the British crown.

The Invictus Games should officially open in the evening. In addition to Prince Harry (37) and Meghan (40), Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte was also expected at the ceremony. The royals are accompanied by a camera team in The Hague for a Netflix documentary. The couple have signed a multi-million dollar deal with the streaming giant.
