Rousseau criticizes Mélenchon’s tweet on Braun-Pivet

The Europe-Ecology Les Verts MP notably mentioned on BFMTV the comments of Jean-Luc Mélenchon against Yaël Braun-Pivet, whom the leader of France Insoumise criticized for “camping in Tel Aviv to encourage the massacre” in Gaza.

“It’s not possible to use these words.” EELV MP Sandrine Rousseau, guest of BFMTV this Monday, October 23, reacted this evening to the comments made by Jean-Luc Mélenchon against Yaël Braun-Pivet. The leader of France Insoumise criticized the trip of the President of the National Assembly to Israel, accusing her of “camping in Tel Aviv to encourage the massacre” in Gaza.

Yaël Braun-Pivet said she was “very shocked” by the words of the leader of France Insoumise, whom she accuses of having put “a new target on her back”. She therefore believes that the term “camper” refers to Nazi concentration camps.

“It would be good policy to recognize the error”

“We cannot use just any word in the political debate,” said the environmentalist MP Monday evening on BFMTV. “I give him credit for not having thought of this word. On the other hand, now that Yaël Braun-Pivet has said what it made him, it would be good policy to return to this term and recognize the “error, that would calm things down.”

“It is a story of the Jews of Europe, a story of massacre, an intimate family story for Yaël Baun-Pivet. It is not possible to use those words,” added the parliamentarian on our antenna.

“When a person concerned says that this shocks them, we have to hear what they say,” said Sandrine Rousseau on BFMTV.

In addition, Sandrine Rousseau says she is “angry” that the left is “inaudible” about recent events in the Middle East and that it “is not united” in describing Hamas as “terrorist”.
