Röthenbach: DNA traces could convict Claudia Obermeier’s murderer – Bavaria

In the summer of 1990, the young woman was strangled on her way home at night. The same genetic information was found on her body as in a break-in in Nuremberg. This means: If the police know the burglar, they will probably also find the murderer.

On May 7, 2012, unknown persons broke into a construction site in the Mögeldorf district of Nuremberg and stole, among other things, drilling machines. So far, so unspectacular. The case was never solved, which eleven years later doesn’t seem to be a big deal. But in this case things are different. In 2012, the police found DNA traces of a still unknown perpetrator at the crime scene – the same DNA traces as in the murder of Claudia Obermeier in 1990, as has now been shown thanks to modern molecular biological examination methods.
