Rosenheim: Train passenger is caught without a ticket and then sets fire – Bavaria

A 66-year-old set fire to a train at Rosenheim station after a ticket check. According to the police, the passenger was caught on Saturday afternoon without a valid ticket and then locked himself in a train toilet. He is said to have set fire to objects he had brought with him, which led to heavy smoke developing. Railway employees were able to open the toilet door from the outside and extinguish the fire before it spread to the train.

The federal police evacuated the train, in which about 80 passengers were sitting. The 66-year-old was arrested and placed in a psychiatric clinic by order of the public prosecutor. During the action, the alleged arsonist and a train attendant suffered minor injuries with suspected smoke inhalation.
