Roselyne Bachelot banned from working on the station at the start of the school year

No retraining at Radio France for Roselyne Bachelot. This was decided by the High Authority for the Transparency of Public Life (HATVP) which, on the other hand, gave him the green light to officiate on RTL and BFMTV. According to a July 12 decision by the HATVP, made public on Wednesday, the former Minister of Culture’s project “to produce a weekly editorial and a podcast on the France Musique station is incompatible with her former government functions”. This notice of incompatibility will expire three years after the end of the exercise of his governmental functions, i.e. at the end of May 2025.

The independent administrative authority, whose mission is in particular to resolve questions of ethics and conflicts of interest concerning certain public officials, nevertheless rules out the “risk of illegal taking of interests” linked to future services as an editorialist for the RTL station and for the continuous news channel BFMTV.

Under the radar for three years

However, this compatibility notice comes with a reservation: Roselyne Bachelot must “abstain from delivering, directly or indirectly, services to companies” with which she would have intervened in the context of her duties as minister, and this at the during the three years preceding the services envisaged.

“A very particular caution must thus be observed by Mrs. Bachelot-Narquin, who will be able to seize the High Authority before taking on new customers”, adds the institution, chaired by Didier Migaud. Finally, “the exercise of any new professional activity” in the three years following the cessation of governmental functions, will have to give rise to a new referral to the HATVP, she concludes.
