Even the fact that he was called Ror Wolf was a trick. His real name was Richard Georg Wolf, and he was born in 1932 in Saalfeld, Thuringia. But by anagrammatically shortening it to Ror, the author made it clear how little he wanted to have anything to do with it. That the writer, who died in 2020 at the age of 88, wrote a kind of diary is therefore a spectacular discovery. His art was always free-floating, away from any autobiographical processing of experience, and his texts corresponded to the same aesthetics as his collages, which were carved out of found objects and connected to the great surrealist Max Ernst, but catapulted him to the end of the century.
